The first week of Textile Design we were given a collaborative project to create our own magazine/Rough Guide to London. I was given the area of Notting Hill/ Kensington which i was really pleased about having worked in the area before. Having worked there I had a sense of the place and what it was about. However making a project on it meant i had to dig a bit deeper into the area. In doing this I really got a different sense of the place which made it develop into a more interesting project as the area, I believe can be perceived as a bit of a plain and prissy place. I honed in mainly in the area of Notting Hill as this struck me to have more content and interesting features. I was drawn particularly to the people of the area and made full use of a day working at a farmers market to record through photos and drawings the movement and stature of people. This then formed the basis of my main page. Here are some of the pages i created for the rough guide magazine.

I added people to some of the drawings. Doing them darker
to make them the main focus of the picture. The men behind
are in fact the same man just in a sequence. |

As well as adding people I added apples to the picture as
the man in the picture is picking out his apples at the farmers
market. |
